Promoting the GovTech agenda in Brazil
Acceleration Program | BrazilLAB
Created in 2016, BrazilLAB is the first GovTech innovation hub in Brazil, which accelerates and connects startups and public agencies. Our main objective is to stimulate the digital transformation and a culture focused on innovation in the Brazilian public sector by supporting high-impact entrepreneurs and public leaders engaged in seeking solutions to the most complex challenges experienced by society.
We do this through a series of activities, the main one being our GovTech Acceleration Program, that has accelerated 130 companies. We also have a tech certification (GovTech Seal), training and support activities for civil servants and an advocacy front, which involves producing content and knowledge, holding and attending online and in person events and participating in discussion and deliberation spaces regarding the GovTech agenda, not only in Brazil but also internationally.
The Acceleration Program includes virtual mentorship and three modules of content, through which during 4 months entrepreneurs receive specialized content, access to specialists and public leaders and visibility in media and social networks, specially on our annual DemoDay. So far, BrazilLAB has accelerated more than 130 startups in different areas, like education, health, security and sustainability.
Acceleration programs: BrazilLAB offers a variety of acceleration programs designed to help startups develop solutions that can improve public services and operations. These programs provide funding, mentorship, and other resources to help startups bring their solutions to market.
Events and workshops: BrazilLAB hosts a range of events and workshops that bring together government officials, startups, and other stakeholders to discuss emerging trends and challenges in the public sector.
Innovation challenges: BrazilLAB organizes innovation challenges that encourage startups to develop solutions to specific challenges facing government agencies. These challenges provide an opportunity for startups to showcase their solutions and for government agencies to identify promising technologies and partners.
BrazilLAB plays an important role in promoting innovation and collaboration in the public sector in Brazil. The organisation's focus on connecting government institutions with technology startups helps to create new opportunities for innovation and improved public services.

Projects:
Acceleration Program (BrazilLAB): The Acceleration Program is heading to the 7th batch next year. The main goal is to approximate the entrepreneurs to the public managers in an attempt to promote digital transformation in the the public sector by developing or improving B2G models and tech solutions.
GovTech Seal (BrazilLAB): This is the GovTech seal, which certificates that startups are capable of selling technological solutions to the public sector. This is an internal certification that takes in consideration the maturity, model of business, its innovation proposal and impact in the public sector.
Digital Acceleration Program for Municipalities in Brazil (BrazilLAB): This is BrazilLAB’s new area of work. In a partnership with CAF, our goal is to prepare the public managers to work with new technologies on a challenge based methodology and train them on ways to acquire this news solutions. We’re willing to work with 5 municipalities during 2023 on this project.
