Encouraging early-stage scalable businesses in South Australia

Go2Gov

Go2Gov is a government programme launched in July 2020 by the Department for Industry, Innovation and Science in partnership with the Department of Treasury and Finance and the Office of the Industry Advocate in Australia. The programme is a pilot delivering (AUD) $2Million over 2 two years to support innovation in South Australia. Projects are centrally funded across Feasibility and Proof of Concept (MVP) Phases. Agency co-funding is encouraged, but not required. 14 proof of concept projects funded, 3 advancing into full procurement to date.

Go2Gov is designed to encourage startups and early-stage scalable businesses in South Australia to bring forward innovative products and services, and for public sector agencies to become a first or reference customer.

Startups/early-stage businesses can engage with the Program by:

  • Responding to Public Sector Challenges (innovation challenges) issued by participating agencies

  • directly approaching the Program through an unmatched proposal process.

Go2Gov works with agencies to issue public sector challenges to the startups community. Multiple startups may be funded ($5K AUS) to work with each government agency to prove the feasibility of their proposal and to then pilot their solutions with agencies.

After a successful pilot, each agency may directly contract the most successful startup for the provision of that product or service for up to three years (no cap on financial value). Startups retain intellectual property and gain government as a credible first / reference customer.

Startups can engage with Go2Gov by:

- Responding to open calls for proposals

- Making an unsolicited proposal at any time
